About Me

My name is Ruth and I have been working with children for the last 16 years.

I qualified as a Nursery Nurse in 2002 and started my career in childcare in a local Day Nursery, where I worked for 10 years. During that time, I worked with children between 6 months to 12 years. I was the room leader of the 2-3 room for 5 years, which I really loved – the tantrums, potty training and fussy eating made it even more interesting!

I achieved a degree in Early Years in 2010, which focuses on children of Nursery/Pre-School age, so I feel confident to discuss development and milestones of older children.

I have also had experience working within a Health Visiting Team. During this time I enjoyed supporting parents with young children, who were struggling with common problems, such as sleep challenges, breastfeeding difficulties, unwanted behaviour, fussy eating and potty training.

I have completed advanced training in sleep and behaviour management, breastfeeding and constipation and enuresis problems, and I have used these to support many families over the years.

I am passionate about the benefits of massage, and I qualified as a Certified Infant Massage Instructor in 2014, which enables me to teach massage, both on a 1:1 basis, and to groups of Mums and Dads and their babies. These classes provide a supportive environment for parents to discuss the challenges of the first few weeks, as well as helping them with the transition of becoming parents by sharing tips and ideas.

I became a ‘Step Mum’ in 2007 to Beth who was six and Luke who was four. I now also have two children of my own, Jack who is nearly six, and Emily who is two. Being a Mum, and facing the challenges we all face through parenting has made me so much more empathetic and supportive when helping other people, as I have experienced it myself.

I believe that parenting can, and should be a positive experience, whatever the challenges you are facing, and I really enjoy supporting families so that they can feel more in control and make a difference to their family and ultimately their wellbeing and peace of mind.
